Star-Ledger columnist Mark McGarrity, aka mystery author
Bartholomew Gill, was born today in Holyoke, MA, in 1943. He was nominated for an Edgar for
Death of a Joyce Scholar (1989), part of his 16-book series featuring Irish police superintendent Peter McGarr. He died in 2002 after a fall.
