Happy birthday, Winston Graham.

Winston Graham, perhaps best known for his historical novels featuring ex-Revolutionary War soldier Ross Poldark (adapted by the BBC and starring Robin Ellis) and suspense novel Marnie (1961; adapted by Hitchcock), was born today in Manchester in 1908. His many works include Night Journey: An Adventure (1941), Take My Life (1947), Fortune Is a Woman (1953), and After the Act (1965). He died in 2003.
